The State of Maryland Legislative Scholarship is offered by State Delegates and Senators to Maryland residents who plan to pursue a post-secondary credential full-time (12+ credits per semester) or part-time (6-11 credits per semester) at a two-year or four-year Maryland college, university or private career school.

Students must apply to their local Senator or Delegate directly. All in-state majors are eligible!

Complete the FAFSA Application - Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st, if the delegate requests that the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) will be responsible for identifying and awarding local students. OSFA will administer awards based on need, as demonstrated on the student's FAFSA.

Out of State Exception - Award recipients may use this scholarship at an out-of-state school if your major is not available at any Maryland institution and if your legislator agrees. In order to verify your major as unique, you must complete and submit the online application by the July 1, 2024 deadline.

Renewal of Award - Students must re-apply each year to their local delegate and, if required, complete the FAFSA by March 1st.

Conditions/regulations and eligibility must be met.
